Accessibility

Last updated July 28, 2026

We want this site and our stores to work for everyone who wants to use them. This page says what we have actually done, what we know is still imperfect, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

What we have built into this site

These are specific things, not intentions:

Motion
The site respects your operating system's reduced-motion setting, and there is a visible switch on the page to turn motion off regardless — because that setting is under-used by plenty of people who still get motion sick. With motion off, the page is the same content, standing still.
Keyboard
Everything interactive is reachable and operable by keyboard, focus is always visible as a gold outline rather than a browser default that can vanish against a photograph, and there is a skip link to jump past the walkthrough.
Screen readers
The page is built from real headings, landmarks and lists in a sensible reading order. Photographs carry real alternative text describing the room. The decorative animation layer is hidden from assistive technology entirely, because it carries no information the text does not.
Without JavaScript
The site renders completely with no scripting: every photograph, address, phone number and paragraph is in the page as delivered. The animation draws on top of that when it can, and its absence removes nothing.
Text and contrast
Text over photographs carries its own shadow so it stays legible where an image is bright, and the type scales with your browser's text size rather than being locked to a fixed pixel value.

What we are not claiming

We have not had this site independently audited, so we are not claiming conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA or any other standard. We would rather tell you what we have done and let you judge it than assert a grade nobody has checked.

We know the immersive walkthrough is the hardest part of this site to use, which is why it is optional, why it is invisible to screen readers, and why turning it off leaves a complete page behind. If you find something else that does not work, it is a gap we have not found yet rather than a decision we made.

Our stores

All seven of our stores are inside enclosed regional malls, which means mall parking, entrances, restrooms and elevators are managed by the mall rather than by us. Inside our own doors we work to keep aisles clear and reachable.

If you want to know about a specific store before you travel — aisle widths, the counter height, anything else — call that store directly and ask. The number is on its card on our stores page, and somebody who works in that room will answer rather than someone reading a script.

Telling us about a problem

Write to support.online@stoneageshops.com or call (770) 652-3915. Describe what you were trying to do and what happened — the page, the device and the assistive technology if you know it.

We will reply, we will tell you honestly whether we can fix it and roughly when, and if you needed something from the site in the meantime we will get it to you another way.
